The foot makes the pot

Trimming is where a thrown form becomes a finished one — the foot ring, the weight, the line where the clay ends.

What to cut

foot       a clean ring, even height
wall       even thickness, bottom to rim
weight     the difference you can feel
chatter     controlled, or none at all

Why it matters

A heavy bottom is the most common beginner tell. Trimming is how you lose it.
