Every defect has a cause

Pinholes, crawling, dunting, shivering — the kiln has a language, and it's mostly about heat-work and chemistry. Here's the field guide.

Common fixes

pinholes   body off-gassing, slow the ramp
crawling    glaze too thick, or dusty bisque
dunting     cooled too fast, below quartz inversion
crazing     glaze/body fit mismatch

Why it matters

You'll lose pieces. The difference is knowing why, so the next kiln load comes out clean.
